The Wine Station project was born from the vision of establishing a center for the world of wine right at the Torrenieri / Montalcino station. Each year, the movement of wine tourism and the appeal that the territory of Montalcino have on fans and others, has prompted the group of sponsors to an integrated project that embodies the essence of the whole method of wine. The careful analysis of the area is highlighted as the site of Torrenieri, genuine reception at the gates of Montalcino, is particularly appropriate for an initiative that encompasses all the activities planned. Both the fundamental presence of the old station of Montalcino, in disuse for years, and the strategic position on SR2 Cassia, together with the availability of spaces, make Torrenieri the perfect place to host a Disneyland of wine.
The idea was to create a welcoming centre of knowledge within the railway station that allows the passionate tourist or the curious, to approach the world of wine in a light-hearted but serious way.
The popular area and the museum will let the interested approach the world of wine without frills or superstructures.
The project begin with the premise to create a different place, scientific, cultural, historical, but at the same time fun and with... "enjoyment". Everything revolves around the figure of Roberto Cipresso who Robert Parker, guru of the global wine scene, did not hesitated to define as the "Poet of Terroir" who has already activated his experimental cellar Winecircus, beyond the same tracks.
Two thousand square meters at the gates of the magic mountain of Montalcino will welcome its visitors with: laboratory, store, training, supply chain, multimedia, but also restaurant, research, tastings and tours.
The "Wine Train" is the main product of this original initiative. In fact the station could not exist without a train running through it and stopping, so therefore a special train was born, wine train of course that travels through one of the most beautiful places in the world, a recognized UNESCO world heritage: the Val d'Orcia.
